Sales Career

The profession of sales manager arose relatively recently. Previously, it was believed that anyone can sell and only those who have achieved nothing in other areas of activity go to sales managers. But over time, it became clear that this opinion was erroneous: a successful "sales person" should be a highly qualified specialist. And in this profession, both professional and career growth are possible. Development Director of a consulting company, career consultant Yekaterina Pasechnik told how a career is being built in sales. And of course if you wanna find job in this sphere you need to have the best resume. Best resume writing service https://salesjobsearches.com/best-resume-writing-services-near-my-location has plenty of examples which you can use.

 Career growth of a sales manager can move in two directions: vertically and horizontally.

For a vertical career, the most promising business function is sales. Employees who are responsible for significant indicators for the company are always in sight. Therefore, if there is an ambition to manage not only sales, but in the long run the whole company, it is better to start a career in this area.

I also chose a vertical form of career development. Started with an administrative position in sales, then moved to active sales. I didn’t like my part of the job as a manager for preparing “closing” documents: acts, invoices and so on. I wanted to sell more and easier using marketing tools. Therefore, I began to take additional marketing tasks, build a sales system. As an example, I used a strategy called “functional selection”. It is very effective for those who want vertical career growth. Now I am a manager and solve the problems of company development, I am engaged in sales, marketing and change management.

Vertical career "salesman" may look like this:

- team leader;

- Head of direction (this position combines marketing activities);

- Development Director (providing "expensive" services, with a long sales cycle);

- Head of Sales Department;

- Director of Sales;

- account director.

A horizontal career option might look like this:

- marketer;

- product manager / product specialist;

- project manager;

- account;

- loyalty manager;

- CRM manager;

- business analyst;

- a development manager;

- affiliate program manager.

You can also open your own business or do consulting in the field of sales.

 Benefits of the profession

If you dream about moving to another area, or you are sure that you want changes in work, once again pay attention to the opportunities that work gives in sales. This direction has many advantages that will allow you to love your job and build a successful career:

- This is the most sought after profession. There are a lot of vacancies in the market, and even if the company is not looking for new employees, it is always ready to consider a good sales manager;

- The fastest horizontal career growth. Compare: according to my observations, it takes 8 years to become a chief accountant or financial director. You can grow up to the head of a sales department or a sales director in a year or three;

- the ability to rely on the results, since this area is very transparent: as a rule, the manager’s work always includes figures that show the result — conversions, volumes, percentage of the plan. Now all company data is easy to check on the Internet, or get recommendations from colleagues, managers, partners or clients through social networks. But if there are no results, this can be a minus.

- lack of attachment to age. Employers are ready to take candidates from 40 years and older. If a candidate knows how to sell or manage sales, then age is an additional advantage for some areas, such as consulting. Plus, an experienced and mature person has more established business relationships.

- the ability to work remotely and work with a flexible schedule. This is convenient for women, as work can be combined with maternity and parenting.

And most importantly, a good sales manager makes great money! And that means that he always has the opportunity to influence his income level.

How to: Land your Dream Internship! | Applying, Resumes, Cover Letters, Interviews, etc.! 5

That are like um. When was a time. That you had to be a leader or if. This happened. This went wrong at the company. What would you do or like hypotheticals like. That which I find really difficult to answer on the spot and then the other things will just be like tell. Me about yourself tell. Me about your major. What do you like to do at school. What are your extracurriculars things like.

That that are way easy to easier to answer obviously. Because they're about you and you should be passionate about them so those are kind of you would be asked definitely dressed professionally obviously. I usually wear sort of like a formal ish type work dress and just a pair of flats just to be pretty safe and yeah that's kind of my interview experiences. I guess for those would be curious so last summer.

You I was working at a company called Danny Joe. This summer I'm working at another jewelry designer called Pamela love. I definitely lift them up their stuff is super cool and yeah that's kind of my internship experiences obviously applying is probably the hardest part definitely the most time-consuming I would say try to customize your cover letter and resume to. Each company. They really care about that make sure.

You triple check read and make sure. You know you didn't accidentally put the wrong company and put a different company. They know that you're applying to multiple internships oh that's another thing if. You are offered an internship. You can always say would. It be okay I took two weeks to get back to you they know that you're applying to other internships. They know that you're waiting to hear from other places so don't be afraid to ask for time to think about it before making your final decision definitely always fine.

They always say yes and that is it. You guys have. Any more internship questions feel free to leave them in the comments below and I will speak to medics video thanks so much for watching bye.

I kind of copied my brother's format for this one but basically. What I do is I'll put again like my name and information at the top then I'll put like the name in the address of the company in the top left hand corner and then I'll write. Either to whom it may concern or I'll address a person. Because sometimes.

They say to address a specific person I'll usually start with. You I'm interested in applying for this position for the summer and yeah then I'll put my education um I'll usually say like. I am majoring in this in steinhardt and I mind hearing this and stirred and then I'll put two examples. That make me good for that job so depending on what it is I might list my experience working at nyu's newspaper and my last internship or I might put my youtube experience and something I did in high school.

It kind of depends. What it is butI'll write outI'll describe. What I did for two paragraphs. That make me good for that job and then I'll end. It just saying thank you so much for the opportunity. I look forward to hearing from. You yadda yadda yadda wrapping it up yeah and then. You say sincerely your name and it's. Both of these things should not be longer. Than a page ever never make. Either of them longer. Than a page and save them as pdfs that's always a good idea so the next step is hopefully getting an interview and I would say don't get discouraged. Because you'll probably only get a little percentage of interviews like based off of everything you applied for so like.

You applied for like 50 internships. You might get ten interviews. Something like. That is usually standard especially. You might not hear back from larger companies. They tend to not. Even tell if they don't want an interview. They just like won't. Even answer so definitely expect. That and then. I was in Prague obviously for this summer did. All phone interviews and you can also set up skype interviews a lot of the time or if. You are based in the city. That you want to work in you can go in for an in-person interview and sometimes.

You might have a couple of rounds like. I think for my last one I had a phone interview and then an in-person interview and then. Another phone interview with the head of the company so. It was kind of different steps and that's pretty normal. I would say usually have at least three questions prepared they'll always ask. You throughout an interview. You have any questions and they'll always ask. You at the end. You have any more questions so definitely always have questions never say no. Because that's like a really bad thing so I'll usually ask kind of like I'll ask who I'm going to be working with I'll ask. What a typical day looks likeI'll ask.

What my interviewers favorite part of working at that company is um maybeI'll ask kind of like things. That you know my general responsibilities. Anything kind of like. That that you might obviously want to know before choosing to work at that company so. It definitely have a set of questions prepared and also be prepared for I would say two different types of things. That they might ask. I would say. One would be scenario questions which are personally my least favorite question to answer and a lot of places don't. Even do these these are the kinds of questions.

You want to apply for then science actually apply the fair applying most places will ask for your resume and your cover letter so for resumes. I my original resume actually just based off of my older brothers and it was really basic looking I feel like it's kind of the resume. That a lot of like business kids use. He was a business student and it was just like super basic says your name and address and email and phone number at the top and then. It is divided by education extracurriculars like work experience.

I think that's probably. It and it was really basic. It would just have the years. That you worked in. Each place and have a little bit of a description under. Each thing my current resume looks a little bit. More I would say creative. If you're in a creative field. I recommend kind of googling like creative resume templates um. I know like BuzzFeed will often do list of like. These are some really creative resumes and you can kind of get inspired by those things and what my in basic looks like. Now I'm not going to put.

It in because. It has like my contact info and like things like. That which I feel like not gonna put in but mine basically right now has a purple bar at the top. It says my name and all of my contact info and then it's separated into two columns and on the left is my education so Kyle it's in order of like. Most recent so college. Than high school work activity again. Most recent 24. This way my social media which I have. I don't know. You guys have ever seen like little social media icons. That you can find online. I found like. Some watercolor pretty purpley blue ones and I have. All of those icons and then.

What my social-media handles are. Because a lot of the jobs. I applied you are in social media or just communications and stuff and that's information. That they would want to know about me and then on the right side is all been extracurriculars from college in high school so it's a little bit. More creative looking down a little bit. More colorful and kind of just a bit. More eye-catching than. It used to be and I really really like the form. That I have. Now it's a pretty good mix of basic and creative. I think so I definitely think it's good to incorporate maybe a little bit of color a little bit of something that your personality and also specify for what field you're in so.

I put social media. Somebody who maybe is in I don't know coding somebody just coding you might want to put in that section. What types of applications you're used to what coding languages. You can write in you know skill sets like. You can use. I don't know like other computer applications specify. It to fit you and but those are definitely. All the categories. That you should have in your resume again list kind of the main points about.

Each thing that you list like. You were in a club in school like. I was in deca so under deck. That I would put the years and then. I would put president. This year to this year vice president. This year to this year. Whatever won. This award and that's all I would put for that and then. You know swim team. You would put captain of swim team.

This year lead practices and organized blah blah and you kind of put like. What you did at. Each thing you know like. I lifeguarded so. I put lifeguard in charge of guarding the pool teaching swimming lessons and also testing the pH levels and chlorine levels and using chemicals and whatever so. You put a couple of bullet points under. Each one or your cover letter again.

Than through like emailing or a separate application and LinkedIn is like a good middle man to find those internships. You can't think of necessarily specific company. You go to LinkedIn oh. I really do want to work for I don't know michael kors is on there a lot or tommy hilfiger. If I'm looking for fashion internships those do come up a lot and it'll take. You them directly to the website and then. You can apply through there but oftentimes.

If a company is listed on linkedin looking for an internship. They will let. You apply through LinkedIn so. You go to the company's website. They have a little button. That says apply through LinkedIn and then. All of your resume info will like automatically get put into the application so universes like waste time filling all of it out. Because it'll already be there from LinkedIn it's the best thing ever. You can apply through linked and it saves so much time so easy and also usually. You apply through LinkedIn.

They don't require a cover letter again really nice. Because writing separate cover letters for every company applied. You gets really really tedious the third way. I feel like. You can apply is through kind of separate websites like. You know like internship calm places. I don't even know. If internships calm is a thing I think there's one called like free fashion internships calm or something if. You just Google like find an internship you'll find like a bunch of websites. That come up I've never had. Any luck with. These personally but I know people who have but it definitely takes a little bit. More work and might be a little bit.

More difficult and then the fourth way to apply is just to go directly to a company's website. That you are interested in this is what I did last summer so last summer. I worked for a jewelry designer called Danny Joe. I was their PR intern and this was a company. That I was a huge fan of I have a lot of their jewelry pieces and I knew on their website. That they have a career section so into the career section.

They have a section for internships and then. You just have to email resume and cover letter to whatever email. It said there so there's a specific company. That you're interested in working in working with. It might be beneficial to go directly to that company's website directly to their careers section of their website and look at what they have.

This is pretty. This like works pretty well especially for larger companies like personally in my field. I look a lot for these sorts of things with huge magazines go to like hearse website or Times website also large fashion companies also companies like the New York Times or something like. That will always have career sections and then it's usually easier to find careers through. That so throughout. All of those things you'll probably accumulate about 50 different internships.

How to: Land your Dream Internship! | Applying, Resumes, Cover Letters, Interviews, etc.! 1

Hey what's up. You guys it's Sophia and today. I wanted to make a video talking about internships and some of you guys might know. I had my first internship last summer and I have. Another internship. This summer in New York City and I get loads of questions. All the time about kind of internship opportunities through NYU. How to get an internship resume applying interviews. Everything like. How to go about finding them so. I thought I would make a video. All about that to help. Some of you guys out.

I like making these sort of advice videos. You guys always seem to give really positive feedback on them so. If you're looking for an internship or might be looking for one in the future. That this helps. You out so let's get started so. I just have kind of a list here on my phone. I thought I would start with. How to apply for internships and there's kind of a number of ways to do. You are in college which is kind of the time. That most people get internships. If you're in high school honestly. I wouldn't bother looking for internships. Because they're not going to want. If you're not in college but uh the number. One way I feel like to get started. You don't know.

Where to start is with your colleges career services center. I feel like every college has. One of these I'm pretty sure like every school has. Some version of this be. It online or in person nyu has. Both online and in person it's called the wasserman's Center. You can probably look up the Wasserman centers website but I don't know how much of it you can access without an NYU ID so basically the wassman Center has a career portal and y-you career. That you can log on into. That it will have your resume and you can also import cover letters into. It and it has. All of your basic contact information GPA things like. That and basically. It has thousands of jobs listed. You can sort of specify the search function is not good on it but you can specify like.

You know what kind of internship. You want part-time full-time location maybe like. What field you're in or major or something like. That you can kind of narrow. It down and find some internships I've applied to dozens of internships through there I've got loads of interviews from. It and my current internship. I think I found through career net so. I highly recommend using your school's career services. They usually work pretty well and are great. If you're like just starting out and don't know. Where to look the second place.

I would recommend looking is LinkedIn. I love using linkedin to find internships. Because usually companies will list internships on linkedin. You can just go to like the jobs and then. You can specify internships and then it'll take. You directly to the company's website to apply and a lot of companies like larger companies will have. You applied to internships directly through their website.
